Monster Island, the Asylum’s 2019 mockbuster, came out around the same date as Godzilla King of the Monsters. The film is about an island where a monster lives, with the same name of the island.


Because the budget for this asylum film is so low (about the equivalent of a large children’s meal), they chose to shoot only a few scenes and all of the key moments with the (blog) cast's A-listers during lunch. The Asylum may not do so badly considering that it is a kaiju movie.
